Brazos Bend State Park is home to more than 300 bird species, and this two-hour guided hike focuses on the birds living around 40 Acre Lake. Participants learn to identify different species by sight and sound along a 1.2-mile trail that is relatively flat and graveled; the park describes it as easily accessible for anyone who wants to join. Bring binoculars and a field guide if you have them, a hat and plenty of water. The hike runs from 8 to 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, Friday, November 6 and Friday, December 4. No separate program fee is listed; park entrance is $7 per person for ages 13 and older.
