About this adventure

A family textile-printing workshop for Indigenous Heritage Month with Xochil, a first-generation, self-taught Chicana artist based in Las Vegas whose work draws on Mexican Indigenous ancestry, symbolism and language revitalization. After a short introduction to textile storytelling, participants learn how Otomi artists from Hidalgo, Mexico use vibrant animals, plants and patterns to represent relationships with nature. Families then print their own designs with pre-carved linocut stamps of animal and plant motifs, layering colorful fabric paint onto a square to create a personal story cloth to take home. The museum recommends it for all ages; it runs 11 AM to 1 PM on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and is included with admission or membership.
