About this adventure

An introduction to the beadwork traditions of the Native Peoples of the Great Plains, held at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. Participants first learn how beadwork has been used for adornment, storytelling and cultural expression, and how pattern, color and design come together in this highly decorative art form. Then they try loom beading, a technique that turns beads and string into a fabric-like band, and make a pony-bead bracelet to take home. The museum notes the activity builds patience and fine motor skills, and recommends it for ages 8 and up. The workshop runs 11 AM to 1 PM, is included with admission or membership, and supplies are limited (first come, first served).
