About this adventure
Part of the museum's From Fiber to Fashion series, this drop-in workshop looks at leather, one of humanity's oldest and most durable materials. A short introduction explains how animal hides are turned into leather through tanning and why cultures around the world have used it for clothing, tools and everyday goods for thousands of years. Participants then decorate a small piece of leather to take home, an easy hands-on craft that connects history, science and design. The museum recommends the activity for all ages. It runs from 11 AM to 1 PM and is included with museum admission or membership; supplies are limited and first come, first served.
