Long Beach's 42nd Belmont Shore Christmas Parade fills East Second Street on the first Saturday evening of December. About 100 entries roll west to east from Quincy Avenue to Bayshore Avenue: more than a dozen local marching bands, floats designed by Long Beach businesses and associations, elves, costumed groups, local personalities and Santa Claus at the end. Families claim curb space early—Second Street closes to traffic at 4 pm, the signal to set out chairs and blankets—and the parade runs 6 to 9 pm. It is free and open to all ages with no tickets or RSVP. Free parking is available in the beach lots along Ocean Boulevard and at Marine Stadium; rideshare and shuttle drop-offs are at the Wells Fargo at 4601 E. 2nd St. (west end) and the US Bank at 5430 E. 2nd St. (east end).
