About this adventure

Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort turns its calm, waveless bay into a holiday light display for the 36th annual Lighting of the Bay, with floating lights switched on every night at dusk through the season. On Thursday to Sunday evenings the Fire & Lights Festival adds family activities around the water: free photos with Santa, fire-dancer performances and fire pits, plus giant inflatables and a toboggan tunnel and holiday food stands that cost extra. Entry to the festival is free; parking is paid. The season opens on Friday, November 27 with an opening-night celebration that includes holiday crafts and festive food. Santa's Garden on site sells farm-fresh Oregon Christmas trees, wreaths and garlands. There is no ice rink this year. The festival is weather-dependent and may close for rain; it is also closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.
