Los Angeles Ballet's original production of The Nutcracker (Christensen/Neary choreography, Tchaikovsky score), a Southern California take on the holiday classic: Clara and the Nutcracker Prince battle the Mouse King and travel through the Land of Snow to the Palace of the Dolls, with scenes reimagining a Hancock Park mansion, Big Bear's snowy slopes and the Venice Beach arches. Run time about 2 hours plus a 20-minute intermission. At the Dolby the score is performed live by the Los Angeles Ballet Orchestra, and performances continue past Christmas. The December 26, 2 pm show is a sensory-friendly (relaxed) performance with lowered sound, reduced strobe, house lights kept low, relaxed house rules, every other row open and the lobby as a quiet space.
