About this adventure

Pretend City's December Neurodivergent Family Night, a sensory-friendly evening, brings Santa to the Irvine children's museum for holiday pictures after regular hours. The museum dims its lights, turns off sounds and limits attendance to 250 guests, and staff can provide noise-cancelling headphones, fidget toys, sunglasses and weighted materials. Children can say hello to Santa at their own pace and then play throughout the pretend town. Philharmonic Society docents also visit with their Music Mobile van for a 30-minute introduction to the orchestra and an instrument 'petting zoo' where kids try real instruments. The whole family is welcome, and therapists may come along. The evening is free, but registration is required and opens two weeks before the event.
