Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum

Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum in Griffith Park runs its 7½-inch gauge live steam, gas-mechanical and electric model trains for the public every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Nearly everything at the all-volunteer museum, including the locomotives and track, was built by its members, and volunteers are happy to talk about how the engines work. Riders sit on straddle-style miniature passenger cars for a loop of the layout. Riders must be at least 34 inches tall and able to sit upright for about 20 minutes, so babies and lap children cannot ride; the weight limit is 350 pounds. Rides are a suggested donation of $4 per person. There are no public rides on Sunday, October 25, 2026 during the members' Fall Meet, and rides are cancelled in rain. The museum is next to Travel Town, which handles birthday parties.
