About this adventure

For one weekend, Oakland Park turns Jaco Pastorius Park into a free holiday village. City Commissioners join Santa Claus for the official lighting of the city's 40-foot Christmas tree at the park's Grand Fountain Plaza. Each evening kids can meet Santa, the Grinch and other holiday characters, drop a wish list in Santa's Mailbox, ride the carousel and the snow slide, and skate on an artificial ice rink (a synthetic skating surface). Grown-ups can browse an artisans and crafters market and a Christmas tree decorating competition by local organizations, and a food court and cash bar serve the crowd, with music through the evening. It runs Friday and Saturday evenings, 5:30 to 10 PM.
