About this adventure
The President James K. Polk Home and Museum in Columbia is owned by the State of Tennessee and operated by the nonprofit James K. Polk Memorial Association. Visits start at the Visitor Center, the 'Sisters' House', with a front desk for tickets, an introductory film and exhibits, then continue to the house and a revival-style boxwood garden with ironwork and a fountain from the Polks' Nashville mansion. Homeschool groups can book hands-on learning themes such as historic kitchen activities, archaeology-inspired learning and 19th-century games.
