About this adventure
El Museo del Barrio's Three Kings Day (Día de los Reyes) parade is East Harlem's biggest children's celebration of the season and has run for nearly half a century. On the morning of January 6 a procession of thousands of schoolchildren and community members travels through East Harlem with live music, colorful floats and camels, honoring a tradition cherished across Latin America and the Caribbean. Back at the museum the day continues with performances, art-making and family activities until mid-afternoon. It is free and suits all ages, from toddlers on shoulders watching the camels to school-age kids who want to make a crown or join the art-making. Registration is through the museum's Eventbrite link; performers and honored guests are still to be announced, so check the page closer to the date for the parade route and lineup. Dress warmly for standing outside in January.
