About this adventure

Tavares fills its historic downtown with a free Christmas festival on the first Saturday of December, opening with the city's annual Christmas Parade at 5:00 pm. The parade starts on Main Street at Sinclair Avenue, heads south to Ruby Street, turns east to Saint Clair Abrams, runs north back to Main Street and finishes at Sinclair Avenue, so families can watch from several downtown corners; the city suggests bringing lawn chairs and arriving early for a good spot. After the parade the evening continues with a giant Christmas tree, an "ice" skating area, holiday photo spots, artificial snowstorms, live entertainment, a movie in the park, food vendors and a visit with Santa. The city bills it as a free family event. Community groups, businesses, schools and golf-cart communities can apply to march, with the parade capped at the first 175 approved entries.
