Deck the Alley, the Elfreth's Alley Association's holiday fundraiser, returns to Philadelphia's most historic residential street on Saturday, December 5. Many residents open their 18th- and 19th-century homes so visitors can see how people live in them today, and the ticket also covers the Elfreth's Alley Museum. Live music, costumed performers and strolling carolers fill the decorated alley, there are craft demonstrations in the Museum House, and kids get an activities table and a visit from Santa Claus. Cookies and hot cider are free, and a cash bar sells Elfreth's Alley wine mugs. Tickets are sold for four entrance times, 1, 2, 3 and 4 pm; arrive within your block and stay as long as you like. Only ticket holders may enter the alley during the event, tickets can also be bought at the entrance with cash or card, and it happens rain, snow or shine. There is no restroom on the alley, and street parking is very limited.
