The last stop in Phoenix Public Library's fall series of bike rodeos is Desert Broom Library on North Cave Creek Road, on the first Saturday of December from 10:00 a.m. to noon. In the parking lot, children ride an obstacle course designed to build control on two wheels while learning how to share the road safely. Free helmets from Phoenix Children's Hospital are given out while supplies last, a useful extra if a new bike is on a holiday wish list. Kids can bring their own bikes and helmets, or use a bike or scooter provided on site for the event. The program is free and aimed at kids, from beginners still finding their balance to confident riders who want a refresher on hand signals and crossings. Accommodation requests go to the library at 602-262-4636 (TTY 711), at least 14 business days ahead.
