For one Saturday the Phoenix Zoo opens designated trails to dogs, and children who love animals get a double treat. Even without a dog, families are invited to come and watch: dogs strut their stuff and compete for awards, a Dogs with Jobs demo featuring search-and-rescue, K-9, service, therapy and trick dogs, pet photo spots around the zoo, and health and safety tips from Midwestern University veterinary students, all included with regular zoo admission. Dogs must stay on dog-friendly routes and are kept out of the walk-through aviaries, the amphitheater and the Predator Passage sky bridge. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with member early entry at 8. The 500 dog tickets ($35 each) are already sold out, so only bring a dog if you hold one.
