At this Sunday-morning drop-in at Pittsburgh Botanic Garden, educator Ms. Courtney explains the science behind fall leaf colour: why green leaves turn amber, red and gold, and how plants prepare for winter dormancy. Families can visit the Weisbrod Learning Pavilion any time between 10 a.m. and noon on October 18, then look for the colours they learned about on the garden's trails. No registration is needed and the program is free with Garden admission. It suits school-age children and anyone wondering where the reds and yellows come from.
