About this adventure
'Truthahntrab' is German for 'turkey trot', a nod to Saxonburg's founding by German immigrants in 1832. On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, runners start at Roebling Park, take a lap around town and, for the 5K, head out past the former Saxony Farms' pastures and lake before finishing back at the park. The 1K Fun Run starts shortly after the 5K and makes one lap around town; every 1K finisher gets a turkey trot ribbon. There are turkey-themed awards including youth age groups (0–9, 10–14, 15–19), a team competition that families can enter together, and post-race snacks and warm drinks. Proceeds support the Knoch cross country and track programs, and Main Street kicks off Small Business Saturday afterward.
