About this adventure

For one evening of the Winter Wonderland season the Portland International Raceway track is closed to cars and opened to bicycles, so families can pedal past more than 250 holiday light displays at their own pace instead of seeing them through a windshield. Riders can take a single lap or several, and many regulars decorate their bikes with lights and ride in Santa suits or reindeer onesies. It is a pedal-power-only event with a 10 mph speed limit: e-bikes are allowed if they have pedals, but walking, scooters, skateboards and roller blades are not permitted on the track. Kids 16 and under must wear a helmet, and safety gear is encouraged for everyone. The ride happens rain or shine and only once a season, so dress for a wet November night and bring bike lights. Tickets are sold per rider, kids pay a reduced price, parking at the raceway is free, and all proceeds go to the Sunshine Division's hunger-relief work.
