About this adventure

On the Friday before Halloween, Portland Parks' environmental education team sets up in the nature patch along N Edison Street, right under the St. Johns Bridge in Cathedral Park. It is a free, drop-in morning: check in for a stamp card, explore the self-guided scavenger hunt stops posted around the park, and visit the activity tables where educators share nature objects and creature features. Apple cider and hot cocoa are served, and a completed card earns a sticker prize. Stay ten minutes or the full two hours. Being a weekday, it suits preschoolers, homeschoolers and kids on a day off; it goes ahead rain or shine, so bring rain gear for the riverside.
