About this adventure

A hands-on Día de Muertos workshop in El Zócalo, the community gathering space at El Centro Milagro. Altar artist Ximena Morales explains the elements, offerings and stories that make up a Día de Muertos altar, leads a short ritual blessing of her community altar, and then guides participants in building their own nichos (small shrine boxes) from recycled materials. Finished nichos can be added to the community altar at Milagro or taken home for a family ofrenda. Milagro rates the session all ages and estimates about two hours, so it suits school-age children who can stay with a craft project alongside a grown-up. Tickets are pay-what-you-wish from $5 per person through Milagro's box office. Part of the Milagro Central Eastside Muertos Celebration.
