About this adventure

The Audubon Society of Rhode Island's nature center in Bristol has a natural history museum with interactive exhibits on the state's habitats and wildlife. Children can look at tidepool creatures and Narragansett Bay marine life, visit Zach the common raven and step inside a 33-foot life-size model of a North Atlantic right whale. Outside, trails on the 28-acre Claire D. McIntosh Wildlife Refuge start at the Palmieri Pollinator Garden, cross upland meadows and follow a quarter-mile boardwalk through fresh and saltwater marshes to a view of the bay; the building and trails are accessible. Sensory Friendly Hours, with fewer guests, lower lighting and no screens, run on the 3rd Wednesday and 4th Tuesday of each month from 3 to 4pm. The grounds and building are closed November 2 for solar carport construction. Guided walks and family programs run through the year.
