About this adventure
The site of the Battle of Bentonville, fought March 19–21, 1865 — the largest battle ever fought in North Carolina and the last full-scale Civil War action in which a Confederate army mounted a tactical offensive, an attempt to stop Gen. William T. Sherman's march through the Carolinas. Families can visit the historic site in rural Johnston County to learn the story on the battlefield itself; guided tours are offered for a fee.
