About this adventure

Group swim lessons from age 6 months up, following the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim curriculum, at the City of Raleigh's year-round pools. Parent & Child Aquatics (6 months–2 years) teaches parents to hold and support their child in the water as a foundation for later lessons. Preschool Aquatics Levels 1–3 (ages 3–5) move from blowing bubbles and assisted floating to unassisted strokes, and youth Levels 1–5 (ages 6–12) progress from intro water skills to stroke refinement with flip turns; teen/adult classes are also offered. A Water Safety Instructor evaluates each swimmer at the start of the session for placement. Swim diapers are required for children not potty-trained, lesson fees do not include extra pool time, make-ups are not offered, and income-based financial assistance is available. Private lessons are also offered at Buffaloe Road, Millbrook, Optimist and Pullen.
