About this adventure

Each holiday season Hill Ridge Farms, a family farm park in Youngsville on the Wake–Franklin county line, turns the whole farm into a winter wonderland lit by more than two million Christmas lights and holiday-themed displays and characters. Instead of driving through, families ride an old-fashioned covered wagon around the farm to see the lights, then board the Hill Ridge Farms Express train for a second route of displays. Admission also covers the carousel and the farm's play park, which the farm lists as including a jump pillow, a giant mountain slide, a corn house, family trike races, a hay jump, bonfires and Santa's Mailbox for children's letters. Granny's Snack Shack sells hot chocolate, hot apple cider, the farm's apple cider doughnuts and s'mores supplies for roasting marshmallows, and the Country Store has old-fashioned candy and fudge. It suits all ages, from toddlers who love the train and carousel to school-age children who want the slide and hay jump; dress warmly because almost everything is outdoors at night.
