About this adventure

Lights on the Neuse is a farm Christmas light show at Boyette Family Farms outside Clayton in Johnston County, seen from an old-fashioned tractor-pulled hayride rather than from a car. The ride covers about a mile and lasts around 30 minutes, winding through a field of light displays set to Christmas music. Back at the barns, the Sugar Barn sells fresh sugar cookies with icing and decorations so children can decorate their own and take them home, Santa's Sweet Shop sells hot chocolate, cookies, kettle corn, hamburgers and hot dogs, and families can take photos in Santa's sleigh (Santa himself is not at the farm). The farm also sells its own milk, eggs, pork, chicken and beef, so bring a cooler if you plan to shop. Bring blankets for the open wagon, dress for the cold, and leave pets at home. The show runs on select weekend and pre-Christmas nights and opens only when the weather permits; the farm posts weather calls by 4:30 pm on the day.
