About this adventure

Downtown Cary Park sets aside a quiet two-hour window for children and adults who need sensory accommodations to meet Santa. During this Sensory-Friendly Photos with Santa session in the park's Gathering House, the lights are softened, the music is turned down to a soothing level and fewer people are let inside at once, so there is more room between families and less waiting in a crowd. Sensory bags are available to borrow during the visit. Families take their own photos with a phone or camera. The session is open to guests of all ages who need sensory accommodations, it is free, and it is not a drop-off event: parents or guardians stay with their child throughout. The town notes that Santa is popular, so there may still be a short wait, and the line may close about 30 minutes before the 3 pm end depending on the crowd. Families who want to describe a specific need ahead of time can fill in the park's event accessibility form and a staff member will follow up.
