About this adventure

A 58-acre wetland nature park in southeast Raleigh where the Little Rock Creek and Walnut Creek greenways meet. In the Norman and Betty Camp Education Center lobby, kids can meet four animal ambassadors (an eastern king snake, a black rat snake, an eastern box turtle and a Cope's gray tree frog), use a free craft table with a monthly nature theme, read in a carpeted story corner and borrow dip nets, rain boots, waders and catch basins from the gear closet for creek exploring, or binoculars and field guides for birding from the deck. Outside are a 14-tree audio Tree Trail made with NC State, the storybook installation 'Norman Builds a Park' and the short Ross Andrew's Loop with coverboards and frog pipes (may flood after heavy rain). Sensory bags and Spanish or English scavenger-hunt cards are available, and the park is a Nature Quest passport stop.
