Mighty Acorns is Effie Yeaw Nature Center's monthly morning for toddlers and preschoolers ages 2 to 5 and their grown-ups, held on the second Tuesday of each month from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the nature center in Ancil Hoffman Park, Carmichael. Little ones learn through play with snacks, crafts, an engaging storytime and playscape stations set up just for young children; some sessions include a visit from one of the center's animal ambassadors or a gentle self-guided walk to the American River. In this season that means November 10 and December 8, 2026 and January 12, 2027. The fee is $20 per general booking or $15 for members, booked online in advance; include the number of children attending so staff can prepare. Adult supervision is required at all family programs. Dress for the outdoors, and plan for the $8 daily park parking pass unless you hold a membership or County Park Pass.
