About this adventure
A two-hour dark-sky outing on the trails of Effie Yeaw Nature Center for teens and adults. The group walks down to the American River at dusk, watching and listening for nocturnal wildlife while eyes adjust to the dark, then picks out the fall constellations and stellar objects visible through binoculars. Along the way the leader talks about navigating by the stars, tells some sky stories and shares what to watch for in the winter sky. Participants should bring a warm jacket, flashlight, binoculars and a water bottle. Tickets are non-refundable and the program is limited to ages 13 and older, so it suits teens with an interest in astronomy or nature, with a parent.
