Alamo Living History staff give a short, free demonstration of the flintlock musket, the main weapon used at the Battle of the Alamo. The roughly 15-minute presentation in Plaza de Valero covers the history and use of flintlock firearms and a quick tutorial on how they were fired, followed by live firings. The demos are popular, so arrive early for a good view. School-age children who are studying Texas history tend to get the most out of it. The Alamo warns that the shots are very loud and can upset young children, so bring ear protection or stand back with toddlers.
