About this adventure

Magik Theatre's morning sensory-friendly staging of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical, the children's theater's holiday show narrated by Max the Dog with the songs "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas." The story and cast stay the same, but the production is adjusted for children and adults on the autism spectrum or with sensory sensitivities: house lights stay on low, loud or startling sounds are turned down, strobe and audience-facing lights are reduced, and the audience is free to talk, sing, move around and come and go. A lobby monitor shows the performance for anyone who needs a break, open seating leaves space between groups, and doors open 45 minutes early so children can get used to the space. Fidget-toy and noise-cancelling-headphone bags can be borrowed at the box office, and a Social Story guide is available beforehand. The show runs about 85 minutes with one intermission and is recommended for ages 3 and up.
