Walk off Thanksgiving dinner on a ranger-led two-mile hike to the Pond and back at Lost Maples, crossing the creek and walking through the canyon. The hike is easy to moderate but the trail is rocky with shallow river crossings (you may get wet), and it is not suitable for strollers, wagons or wheelchairs. Registration is required through the park's online form, and you need a day pass or camping reservation before registering; fall weekends often sell out. Meet at the day-use parking restroom at 10 am with water, a hat, sunscreen, snacks and closed-toe shoes. There is no restroom or drinking water after the start.
