The San Diego Museum of Art

The San Diego Museum of Art hosts a free community celebration of Día de los Muertos on the Plaza de Panama in Balboa Park, in front of the museum. The day includes live performances, family-friendly art-making activities, and a Día de los Muertos ofrenda created by visiting artist Betsabeé Romero with local San Diego students. Through artist-designed art-making activities, visitors are invited to honor loved ones, share memories, and add meaningful objects and creative responses to the ofrenda in the plaza. Romero joins the inauguration of the ofrenda at 11:00 a.m. on the museum's front steps. Admission to The San Diego Museum of Art and to the Museum of Photographic Arts at SDMA is also free that day from noon to 5:00 p.m. A separate ticketed Taco Party runs in the museum's sculpture court and garden.
