South Bay families can catch Hawktober late on Saturday afternoon at Otay Lakes County Park in Chula Vista. In this free hour-long workshop rangers introduce named ambassador birds of prey—hawks, owls and falcons—and share fun facts about their diets, hunting styles and adaptations like night vision and camouflage. The lakeside park has picnic areas and a playground, so it pairs well with an early dinner outdoors. Open to all ages; no fee is listed for the program.
