Chabad of Oakland's 21st annual Grand Menorah Lighting brings the community to the Lake Merritt Amphitheater on the third night of Chanukah. The program advertises a new 15-foot menorah, a fire performance, live music, hot latkes and sufganiyot (doughnuts), hot drinks and matzah ball soup, balloon twisting, Chanukah crafts, chocolate gelt, menorahs and dreidels, and raffle prizes. The celebration is free of charge and outdoors by the lake, so dress warmly; it starts at 4:30 pm, just after sunset.
