Lights Up! is Piedmont's annual celebration of light, which grew out of a tree-lighting ceremony started in 1969. The evening at Piedmont Community Hall includes the illumination of an 80-foot redwood decorated with LED lights from the Piedmont Beautification Foundation, a menorah lighting, latkes, cider and hot cocoa, seasonal activities for all ages run by the Piedmont Recreation Department, and photos with Santa inside Community Hall. Everyone is welcome and it is free. The city's events list gives December 2, 2026 at 7 p.m.

What was checked & what still needs confirmation
Read in a browser (curl/WebFetch blocked or JS-only); Conflict: the Events list says 'Lights Up! December 2, 2026, 7pm' but the detail page still reads 'Wednesday, December 2, 2025 7pm'. Dec 2 is a Wednesday in 2026 (it was a Tuesday in 2025), so 2026 looks right, but the year on the detail page has not been updated. Queued /calendar URL is 404.
