About this adventure

The Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (H.A.R.D.) celebrates the season with three free Holiday Lights evenings at its historic mansions, each decorated with lights, on consecutive nights in early December. The second night, Wednesday, December 2, is at McConaghy House in McConaghy Park on Hesperian Boulevard. From 5:30 to 7:30 PM families can enjoy live entertainment and festive music, make holiday crafts and warm up with cozy refreshments. The evenings are billed as free and family-friendly and go ahead rain or shine, so bring a jacket and an umbrella if the forecast is wet. The series starts at Mt. Eden Mansion on December 1 and ends at Meek Mansion on December 3, so families can pick the night and neighborhood that suits them. An evening visit after dark is the best way to see the lights, and the two-hour window suits young children who need an early bedtime.
