About this adventure
A volunteer-run, one-third-scale steam railroad and a vintage carousel at the back of Oak Meadow Park in Los Gatos. The train loops through Oak Meadow and neighboring Vasona Lake County Park, pulled by one of two steam locomotives: No. 2, a 1905 'Prairie' engine built for the Venice Miniature Railway and restored for its 100th birthday in 2005, or No. 5, a larger 'Pacific'-style engine that joined the fleet in 2013. Next to the station, the W.E. "Bill" Mason Carousel gives classic horse rides, and a snack shack sells food on operating days. Oak Meadow also has a playground and picnic lawns, so this makes an easy half-day for toddlers and train-loving kids. Tickets are sold only in person at the ticket booth (credit cards accepted), never expire, and work on either the train or the carousel, but not for special events such as the holiday train.
