About this adventure

Vasona Lake County Park in Los Gatos is a 152-acre lakeside park and one of the county's most popular family outings. It has one of only three playgrounds in the Santa Clara County Parks system, 45 acres of lawn for frisbee, softball or soccer, first-come picnic tables and eight reservable group areas. Pedal boats, canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards can be rented from early spring through early fall through Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation, and the lake is fished for black bass, crappie, catfish and bluegill. The paved Los Gatos Creek Trail runs through the park for walking, biking and skating. At the north end, the Youth Science Institute nature center has live animals and hands-on displays, with the Viola Anderson Native Plant Trail behind it, and next door in Oak Meadow Park the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad and carousel run on weekends. Dogs are welcome on leash. In December the park hosts the Fantasy of Lights.
