The Argosy Christmas Ship Festival opens on the Seattle waterfront. Before the 5:00 pm sailing, Santa leads a countdown from the Pier 55 dock at about 4:15 pm and lights up the Spirit of Seattle to start the multi-day festival. Opening-night sailings at 5:00 and 8:00 pm carry The Dickens Carolers, a holiday raffle and Santa's reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, with shoreline performances at Salty's at Alki Beach (5:35 pm) and at Alki Beach (8:35 pm), where Argosy lists a planned public onshore event. Riding the ship requires an opening-night ticket; the Alki Beach stop can be enjoyed from shore.
