Saturday-morning science at Machacek Library on Scanlan Avenue: in Spinning Out, kids use what they learn about simple machines and gravity to build spinning tops out of recycled materials, then put them to the test. The lab runs Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and is designed for ages 5 to 10. It is a short, hands-on session — a good fit for younger builders who like to tinker. Divoll Library repeats the lab on Dec. 22.
