About this adventure

Waterloo's Christmas Walk fills historic downtown Waterloo over Thanksgiving weekend. Visitors pick up a shopping card and have it stamped at participating merchants and restaurants, and several stamped cards are drawn for prizes of $1,000 in gift certificates. For families, the weekend's highlights are free carriage rides, visits with Santa, and the GLOW Holiday Lighted Parade, an evening parade of lighted entries put on by the Waterloo GLOW group that steps off at 5:30 pm on Saturday. Sunday brings a holiday concert and the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce's Lamppost Decorating Contest. The City of Waterloo says the walk is always held the week and weekend of Thanksgiving. The 2026 dates and the 9 am to 5 pm hours come from the regional tourism calendar; the parade route, Santa times and carriage-ride hours were not posted yet when this listing was checked, so look for updates from the city closer to the weekend.
