Glenarden Branch Library's chess club closes the year with a tournament on Saturday, December 12, from 1 to 3 p.m., in the library's Teen Area. Players show off their moves, learn how a tournament works and share the joy of the world's most famous game. 3D-printed trophies, made in the Fairmount Heights branch's Dream Lab, go to each division winner and runner-up, and every player gets a participation prize. It is open to elementary-age children and teens (5-18), and registration is required (up to 20 players) through the library's online calendar. The branch is at 8724 Glenarden Parkway, Glenarden; phone 301-772-5477.
