About this adventure
Southern Maryland's German-style Christmas market returns to the Charles County Fairgrounds in La Plata for its 14th year. More than 180 local artisans sell handmade crafts, and the weekend packs in children's activities, light displays, strolling carolers, school choruses and bands, a living nativity, food vendors and a cookie contest. Santa arrives with the official Christmas tree lighting on Friday, Dec 11 at 5 pm and stays on site during all market hours, and musical holiday fireworks go off Saturday at 6 pm. Adult entry is $5 (children 10 and under free), and the fee benefits the Southern Maryland Food Bank and local fire and EMS associations.
