The Lighting of Avalon — tree lighting with Santa, Alpharetta

About this adventure

Avalon's holiday kick-off fills The Boulevard with an afternoon of family entertainment that builds to the lighting of the 40-foot tree on top of the concierge building. The afternoon opens with an ice skating performance by Atlanta Figure Skating Club students around the new rink, followed by an Activity Row along the Boulevard with face painting, holiday crafts and a photo booth from 2 to 5 PM. Holiday performances take the stage in the late afternoon, the band The Big Beyond plays from 5:30, and at 7 PM Santa leads the countdown to the tree lighting. Avalon on Ice opens to the public the same day at 3 PM for anyone who wants to skate (separate ticket). Parking decks are free but fill fast; there is overflow parking with a shuttle at Gwinnett Technical College, and carpooling or ride-share is recommended.
