About this adventure

During the Austin Trail of Lights in Zilker Park, the organizers keep an accessibility program that lets guests with disabilities, together with up to three companions, enter the trail an hour before general admission opens. The Trail of Lights Foundation's FAQ specifically encourages visitors with sensory considerations to use this early hour so they can walk the roughly one-mile route of light displays before the large crowds arrive, and suggests weekday nights in the week of December 10 for the smallest crowds. Entry is through the dedicated ADA entrance at Lou Neff Road and Barton Springs Road, which has extra space and paved terrain; most of the trail follows paved Lou Neff Road, though some sections cross natural ground that can be muddy after rain. An Accessibility Center sits just inside that entrance near Candy Cane Lane. Santa visits nightly in Santa's House from 6 to 9:30 PM. The program does not lend wheelchairs or other mobility devices, and parking, including ADA parking, must be bought online in advance.
