About this adventure

On Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Girlstart educators set up hands-on stations at the Texas Science & Natural History Museum to explore pterosaurs, the flying reptiles that ruled the skies alongside the dinosaurs. Kids investigate the adaptations that let pterosaurs take flight and compare the wingspans of three very different species, the pterodactyl, the filter-feeding pterodaustro and the giant pteranodon, through measuring and modeling activities. Afterward families can head into the museum's fossil galleries to keep the dinosaur-era theme going. Girlstart is an Austin nonprofit focused on getting girls excited about STEM, but the drop-in program is open to all visitors. Participation is included with museum admission; there is no separate registration.
