Christmas on Mercer is Dripping Springs' downtown holiday street fair, now in its 22nd year, and it is the busiest family day of the city's Hometown Holidays season. On Saturday, December 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., historic Mercer Street is lined with local vendors selling handmade gifts, food and holiday treats. The day opens with Santa arriving on a fire truck at 10 a.m., so families who want photos should be on the street early with cameras ready. Through the day kids can take pony rides and train rides and step inside a giant snow globe for a photo, and there is live entertainment along the route. Come early for parking and the Santa arrival, and plan to walk the length of Mercer Street, which is closed to traffic for the festival. The city's tree lighting and holiday movie the weekend before at Veterans Memorial Park make a natural pair with this day.
