About this adventure

For school-age kids home over the holidays, Soule Homestead in Middleborough runs Budding Farmers, a full-day December vacation program for ages 7 to 11 on Tuesday, December 29 and Wednesday, December 30. The days are built around getting outside in winter conditions on the farm: meeting and interacting with the farm animals, learning about growing food, hiking and exploring the woods, wetlands, gardens and fields, age-appropriate science activities and hands-on play, with time indoors for snack and arts and crafts. Children bring a lunch and several snacks, a water bottle, an extra change of clothes and socks, rain or winter boots, and weather-appropriate outer layers such as snow pants, a hat and gloves. Each day needs at least five children to run, and families sign up through the farm's online booking page. Soule Homestead is a nonprofit agri-ecology and conservation learning center, and families returning from its summer camp do not need to resend their documents unless they have changed.
